Electric Motor Power Pty Ltd (EMP) is a wholly Australian owned company specialising in the design, development and production of a broad range of permanent magnet (DC) motors, both brushed and brushless. We also provide brushless motor controllers, gear motors, encoders and brakes to suit your applications.

EMP began operations in 1989 as a small suburban motor manufacture, and have since evolved to a global organisation, utilising high-quality and well-established local and worldwide relationships with production across our factories in Melbourne, Australia & Ningbo, China.

1989

Electric Motor Power (EMP) Pty Ltd was established by Charles Matheou and Uwe Dressel; two design engineers who were working together in a company involved in the automotive industry. The pair initially started out working from Uwe’s garage which was converted into a workshop. The first motors were wound there by Charles Matheou using home-made tooling.
